Administrative details for MATH 1610 — Honors Calculus I (Fall 2026)

Course Description

This course is an honors version of MATH 1410, covering the material in greater depth than that course, with more challenging problems and more attention to definitions and to the reasons behind the results, including proofs.

Textbook: Tom Apostol, Calculus, Volumes I and II, second edition.

• Vector algebra, vector fields, vector calculus
• Line integrals
• Multiple integrals
• Surface integrals

Exams

We will have three in-class exams.

Provisional exam dates:

• Exam 1, Monday September 28
• Exam 2, Monday November 2
• Exam 3, Friday December 4

There is no separate final exam during the registrar’s final exam period.

Grading Policy

Your course grade will be based on the following components:

• In-Class Exams (70%)
  There will be three in-class exams. The highest exam score will count for 30% of your final grade, and the other two exam scores will count for 20% each.
  
• In-Class Work (15%)
  
• Homework (15%)
